3 Days Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Safari

This three-day trip begins and ends in Entebbe or Kampala. Its main experience is one guided mountain gorilla trek in Bwindi, with an overnight stay at Lake Bunyonyi after the trek. It suits travellers who can accommodate two long road-transfer days.

Itinerary at a glance

Day 1: Travel to Bwindi

Meet your driver-guide and travel southwest, with rest and meal stops along the way. An Equator stop can be included when timing allows. Check into your lodge near the confirmed trekking sector and prepare for the next morning. This is a long road-transfer day; arrive in Uganda before the itinerary starts.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Lake Bunyonyi

Attend the park briefing, then enter the forest with Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. Once your assigned gorilla family is located, spend up to one hour observing them. Trek duration varies with terrain and gorilla movements. Afterwards, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for your second overnight stay. The scheduled boat outing is arranged around the trek finishing time and local conditions; it may be moved to the following morning if the return journey permits.

Day 3: Return to Entebbe or Kampala

After breakfast, begin the long road journey back to Entebbe or Kampala, with a lunch stop en route. Avoid booking an early departure flight. An extra Entebbe overnight is recommended when flight timing leaves little flexibility.

The four-day gorilla trip breaks the outward road journey with an overnight stop at Lake Mburo. If you are starting in Rwanda, consider the three-day Bwindi safari from Kigali.
