The mountain gorilla trek in Bwindi is the main reason for this four-day trip. Lake Mburo provides an overnight break between Entebbe and Bwindi, with a scheduled night drive and boat outing as supporting experiences. Lake Bunyonyi offers a relaxed overnight after the trek.

Day 1: Entebbe to the Lake Mburo stopover

Travel from Entebbe or Kampala to your lodge near Lake Mburo. Rest after the drive and take the scheduled guided night drive when park arrangements allow. Wildlife sightings vary. Start from an Entebbe overnight, or arrange an arrival flight early enough for the transfer and evening activity.

Day 2: Lake Mburo boat outing and transfer to Bwindi

Take the scheduled boat outing on Lake Mburo before continuing southwest to Bwindi. The lake visit supports the journey break; it is not the main focus of the holiday. Continue to your lodge in the gorilla trekking sector confirmed by your permit. Allow the afternoon for the road transfer and preparation for the trek.

Day 3: Mountain gorilla trekking and Lake Bunyonyi

Attend the park briefing and follow your ranger team into Bwindi. Once the gorillas are located, viewing is limited to one hour. The walking time varies and can occupy much of the day. Afterwards, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for dinner and an overnight stay. Any scheduled lake outing is timed around the trek and confirmed in your quotation.

Day 4: Return to Entebbe or Kampala

Enjoy breakfast before the long return drive, with rest and meal stops en route. Your guide will drop you at the agreed hotel or airport. An additional Entebbe overnight can be arranged to protect your onward flight connection.

How this differs from the three-day safari

Choose this trip for an overnight break on the outward journey and the Lake Mburo supporting activities. Choose the three-day Bwindi safari if you prefer a more compact gorilla itinerary and can manage the longer outward transfer in one day.
